ABOUT ME
Have you spent most of your life on quick-fix diets, cleanses and eating food you didn't like. I learnt the hard way. Changing my basic eating habits was the only way to sustain weight loss and good health in the long run.
This is my story and why I think nutrition and exercise benefits good health!
I contracted a bad case of Reactive Arthritis (no I had never heard of it before either), three weeks after getting food poisoning on holiday in Jamaica. After a week I was starting to feel better and keep food down or in, but, one morning in October 2015 I could not move or get out of bed, even to go to the bathroom, the pain was excruciating.
I woke my wife and told her I could hardly move and was in terrible pain in all my joints, especially in my lower back, I could not even roll over to get out of the bed. As you can imagine, she was extremely alarmed and had to help me to roll over and stand whilst listening to me crying out in pain. She phoned the doctor, who advised her to get me to hospital.

This was the start of a painful and frustrating journey. 60 mg of steroids per day to get me out of bed, anti sickness drugs to keep them down, numerous pain killers to be able to function, many visits to the hospital and Rheumatoid clinic. This went on for months and then came the side effects from the steroids (mood swings, huge appetite, weight gain, blurred vision plus many others).

I had to do something to get off these drugs. After weeks of research, reading blogs and watching numerous documentaries including fat, sick and nearly dead. Would a plant based food approach including juicing help me?
4 months later I reversed all the side effects, came off all medication and felt back to my old self. I have to say that the support of my local Doctor at the time was brilliant.
Now over three years later, I am still juicing (cold pressed raw vegetables and fruit), eat no meat or poultry, lost over 11 kilos, maintained it and feel great.

I am also learning Tai Chi as a form of exercise, which also helps increase mobility in your joints. I walk our two dogs at least three times a day, and we have a new addition, Teddy the French Bulldog.

I am studying all about intermittent fasting, autophagy, mimicking fasting, Ketogenesis and Epigenetics and will be producing some documentation on these subjects for you to read.
I created a website to see if what I went through and have learnt along the way, will help others to see there are options, healthy ones, to help to change your circumstances, health and general well-being for the better.
It worked for me.
